2006 American Conference on Neutron Scattering
St. Charles, IL, June 18-22, 2006
The third American Conference on Neutron Scattering will be held at the Pheasant Run Conference Center in St. Charles, IL, June 18-22, 2006. The conference is being organized under the auspices of the Neutron Scattering Society of America (NSSA) with local arragements for the conference being made by the Intense Pulsed Neutron Source at Argonne National Laboratory. Additional support for the conference comes from the North American neutron centers. The first two very successful conferences in 2002 and 2004 were hosted by SNS-HFIR and by NIST, respectively.
The conference is intended to showcase recent scientific results in neutron science in a wide range of fields, including soft and hard condensed matter, liquids, biology, magnetism, engineering materials, chemical spectroscopy, crystal structure, fundamental physics, and developments in neutron instrumentation. This will be accomplished through a combination of invited and contributed talks, along with poster sessions. Nominations for invited speakers will be solicited in the fall of 2005, and abstract submission will be opened in the winter of 2005. The conference will feature the presentation of the second Clifford G. Shull Prize for Neutron Science and two new prizes--the Sustained Research Prize and the NSSA Science Prize. All three prize winners will give lectures in plenary sessions of the conference. See the NSSA Prizes link for more information.
The conference particularly encourages the participation of graduate students, postdocs, and new faculty, as well as established researchers in neutron scattering and related disciplines. For the former groups, funds will be available to help defray travel expenses.
We look forward to your participation in the ACNS 2006 Conference, which should be as productive and successful as the two previous conferences.
